Woman’s Day Magazine Features Dorothy Wilson’s Guardian Abuse

Attorney Tara Wilson of Andover, MA, had many of her own estate planning  documents in order. But after her grandmother fell ill at 84 and her relatives  disagreed on her care, the court appointed a stranger as guardian, overruling  her grandmother’s wishes.

“The guardian kept her from her loved ones, put a reverse mortgage on her  house, moved her to a nursing home and squandered her savings. From all this I  learned that I needed to name a second and third choice for healthcare proxy and  power of attorney, and add a provision to my will that the court is not to  appoint anyone else to represent the interests of my children. And I keep my  will up to date.”

About Diane Wilson

Guardianship must be abolished. This draconian law strips human beings of their civil and humanitarian rights. It is used as a method to dispose of the elderly and disabled, steal their estates, and isolate them from their loved ones.

  1. I had thought my parents had ALL of their documents in “order”, and everything regarding their wishes was spelled out very clearly and succinctly. It is incredible that all of these poor victims, regardless of how well they prepared and planned, wasn’t enough to thwart off these parasites, who still managed to find a way to disregard these documents, their wishes, and the law in general. My Mom had an “irrevocable” health care proxy in place, (me), and Judge Asarch decided to “suspend” it! She currently goes in and out of the hospital, with no agreed upon health care proxy in place, and I have NO reason to believe that her advanced directives will be followed in the event her health takes a more dramatic turn for the worse… to say Guardianship is a scam, is really an understatement. It more resembles organized crime if you ask me. I am so sorry for your Grandmother’s, Mothers, yours, and your family’s heartache and pain. You truly have MY sympathy.. it is disgusting and it is up to us to see to it that we, and future generations are protected from these atrocities. If we do not, I fear that an entire faction of a generation and generations to come will be stripped of any and all freedom and dignity, and of course, their assets. How is this different fromn groups of people who have historically been denegrated, used, abused and stripped of all their freedom and rights??? I contend there IS no difference. Sadly, the media plays a huge role as well. But that is a different topic entirely. Hopefully together we can all make a difference!!

  2. Pat, I am so very sorry to hear your story. Please feel free to let the brothers know that there are people fighting hard against this evil segment of society and ask them to contact me. They need to expose the names of the abusers and let the world know what is being done. The guardianship field is a very lucrative business and those that go into it only look at the money they can make. For some reason they do not acknowledge that there are human beings involved. On the other hand, there are some genuinely caring people in the business who are legitimately there to protect and serve; unfortunately there are very few of them. We need everyone to expose the evil segment in this field and stop them once and for all.

  3. I know of a current case in Florida where because of brothers’ disagreement the woman age 90 was assigned to 3rd party for-profit guardians by a judge; where no review of the judge’s decision is made available by the state of Florida, no ombudsman is available, and the 3rd party guardians have a slew of experienced lawyers to fight any change. The brothers now see the abuse, they have been denied the right to visit their mother, who is wasting away under the restrictions she lives under. they are not able to talk on the phone to her without permission, the calls are monitored. some subjects are forbidden. the guardian’s staff neglected her dog, who died. the estate is being depleted. it’s a scandal!
